Calcium stearate is also called calcium stearate. White light crystalline powder. Chemical formula (C17H35COO) 2Ca. The molecular weight is 607.00. Melting point: 179～180℃, decomposed by high heat. It is insoluble in water, cold ethanol and ether, soluble in hot benzene, toluene and turpentine, and slightly soluble in hot ethanol and ether. It is decomposed with strong acid into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salt. There is water absorption in the air. Intolerant to lipolytic microorganisms. Decomposition at high temperature produces stearyl ketone and hydrocarbons. Non-toxic. Corresponding oleate is often mixed in the industrial Chemicalbook. Used as a stabilizer and lubricant for polyvinyl chloride; as a halogen absorbent in polyethylene and polypropylene; as a lubricant for polyolefin fibers and molded products; as a lubricant and release agent for thermosetting plastics such as phenolic and amino; lubrication Thickening agent for grease; waterproofing agent for waterproof fabric; flattening agent for paint and lubricant for pencil lead. Food-grade calcium stearate is used as an anticaking agent. It is prepared by reacting the roasted stearic acid with sodium hydroxide to make a dilute soap solution, and then reacting with calcium chloride.
